LOS ANGELES, CA- August 12, 2013- Leading mobile games publisher and developer, GAMEVIL, announced its 2013 second quarter results today, reporting record high quarterly overseas (outside of Korea) sales of 11.3 billion KRW ($10.2 million USD).
In the second fiscal quarter of 2013, GAMEVIL recorded 20.5 billion KRW ($18.5 million USD) in sales, 3.5 billion KRW ($3.2 million USD) in operating profit, and 4.0 billion KRW ($3.6 million USD) in net profit, reflecting growths of 18% and 35% in sales over the previous quarter and previous year's results. The operating profit, however, showed a decrease of 26% from the previous quarter due to increased third party royalty payments and marketing expenses to accommodate the expanding global user base.
This quarter is highly noted for the best overseas revenue to date, passing the 10 billion KRW mark for the first time in GAMEVIL history. GAMEVIL recorded 11.3 billion KRW ($10.2 million USD) in overseas sales, reflecting a 23% increase compared to the previous quarter and a whopping 70% increase over the previous year's results for the same quarter. The increased revenue is attributed to the steady growth in revenue from North America, Asia, Europe, and South America, along with its expanding user base via GAMEVIL Circle, which is powered by 300 million downloads. Record sales have also been contributed by GAMEVIL China, a wholly owned subsidiary, leading the full-scale growth in the greater China region.
GAMEVIL continues to receive recognition as a leading global publisher with hit titles such as 'Monster Warlord', 'Dark Avenger', and 'Fishing Superstars' continuing to increase sales through constant updates and service-based features. By running the games as a service, longer lifespan and higher ARPUs have been recorded. GAMEVIL has targeted a wide range of audiences by releasing various sports, RPG, trading card, and strategy games, leading to record growths across various genres.
GAMEVIL plans to expand on its success by releasing a variety of new titles and aggressively expanding its global presence. First and foremost, GAMEVIL will be releasing the year's most anticipated, Full-Network Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, 'ZENONIA Online' (tentative title). 'Dark Avenger', which is already grossing huge profits in China's iOS market, is in line to launch on China's even bigger Android market through Qihoo 360. The anticipated card battle hit 'Kaizin Rumble' and trading social network game 'Ocean Tales', are also set to launch in Japan to accelerate GAMEVIL's global success.
GAMEVIL is working with global and local platforms to further solidify itself as a global publisher. Through direct publishing relationships with Tencent and Qihoo 360 GAMEVIL will continue to advance its presence in the expanding Chinese market. GAMEVIL will also improve on social network integration through channels such as Facebook, KakaoTalk, and LINE.
Going forward, GAMEVIL looks to focus on projects, talent, and service through aggressive acquisitions, investments, and partnerships.
